Certain pockets of society have targeted computer and video games for a few years, going back to 1997's Carmageddon. In the aftermath of 9/11, however, the nation's heightened awareness and search for answers only intensified the scrutiny. Recently, Raven Software unleashed Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix into the hands of an even more skeptical public, a sequel to a game that was among a crop of titles specifically criticized as being combat training exercises for children. Raven has stepped up the realism and gore this time around, the latter reaching unprecedented levels. A label warning of the product's excessive violence again graces the front of the box, and once more a Raven first-person shooter is placed in the crosshairs of detractors. But what will its toughest critics -- hardcore game players -- think of Soldier of Fortune II?

Global Conflict is a multiplayer mod for Soldier of fortune 2 in which you are pitted against either terrorist or Special Weapons and Tactics squad (SWAT). Global Conflict is a realistic mod in which a shot to the head or heart kills or a shot to the arm gives u worse accuracy and a shot to the leg would slow you down. In Global Conflict you can not shoot if you’re not on some kind of surface and of course recoil depending on what you’re doing (running, walking, crouching, proning).
Global Conflict is round based to promote more teamplay, so if you get killed, you don’t respawn. Each class can pick one pistol and one smg or rifle but the sniper can have only a pistol and sniper rifle and the heavy support can have a pistol, shotgun and a machinegun.
These are the game modes:
Hostage Rescue (Hr_):
This would be your classic Terrorists holding hostages and S.W.A.T sent in to rescue the hostages and neutralize the terrorists. For each Hostage rescued the S.W.A.T would get $50 and 2 points, while the Terrorists would get $50 for killing a S.W.A.T and 2 points for securing a hostage which is being taken by a S.W.A.T operative.
Plant or Defuse (Pd_):
Plant and Defuse maps would be where the terrorists either have to plant a c4 charge or guard an already planted one. The terrorists would get 2 points for neutralizing a S.W.A.T who was defusing the bomb or guarding the person defusing and the S.W.A.T would get 3 points for defusing the bomb, 2 points for killing a guard of the bomb or 1 point for guarding the person defusing the bomb.
Breaking and Entering (Be_):
Breaking and entering maps are your basic SWAT break and entering operations. The Terrorists will be located in a remote hideout and the SWAT will have to break into the building and recover whatever item they are dealing or keeping. The SWAT get 2 points per item while the terrorists get 2 points for guarding an item. These levels will most of the time be single houses.
Robbery (Rb_):
In Robbery maps, the Terrorists must rob either a bank, armored car, etc and escape to their hideout. The opposing force (the SWAT team) must eliminate the Terrorists before they can steal the money, or while they are trying to escape.

Ofcr.Yam sent in a new version of his map The Raid v1.01. This map is one for my favorite maps its not to big not to small and is well put together with a nice mix for textures. The Raid now supports all gametypes available to date.
